1959-1962 Drove a taxicab, for the Yellow Cab Company, throughout the Denver metropolitan area while enrolled in undergraduate courses at the University of Colorado at Denver
1962-1965 Worked for the City and County of Denver as Deputy Clerk
1965-1968 Worked for the City and County of Denver as Chief Clerk
1968-1971 Worked for the Rib Cage International, Inc. as Operations Manager
1972-1984 First black woman to serve in the Colorado House of Representatives
(District #7)
1972-1990s Self-employed with Arie Parks Taylor and Associates.
1991-1995 Appointed Denver Clerk and Recorder by Mayor Webb
1995 Retired
Died in October of 2003

The Arie Parks Taylor Papers (bulk dates = 1970s) consist of material gathered from her time in public service. The collection includes personal papers, professional papers, and photographs. The majority of this collection pertains to her professional life, which includes material from the Colorado House of Representatives, and her work for the City and County of Denver as chief clerk and deputy clerk. The collection is rich in correspondence, photographs, publications, awards, campaign memorabilia, and speeches that relate to Colorado.

Material from: 1970-1990s Boxes 2-6

The second series, professional, is divided into four subseries: files, publications, photographs, and awards and political memorabilia. The first subseries, files, consists of the papers that Taylor acquired throughout her professional career. These include such subjects as the Democratic National Convention, Denver Democratic Party, hollow-nose bullets, women's activist groups, and political topics. This subseries is arranged alphabetically. The second subseries, publications, includes political publications and is arranged alphabetically. Photograpsh, third subseries, are in files or housed in photo albums. This series is arranged alphabetically. The topics include campaigning and the annual New York Open House. The fourth subseries, awards and political memorabilia, includes the plethora of awards won by Taylor and the political memorabilia acquired during her political career. This series is arranged alphabetically.
