Note
Sammye Mae Littlejohn Reid joined the Zion Baptist Church in the
late-1930s when William H. Young presided as pastor. She was the
matriarch of Zion’s Christian Education that encompassed the
Children’s Commission, Sunday school and the Board of Christian
Education.
Reid served in the Sunday school as a teacher and Children’s
Superintendent for over forty years. She was the Director of Christian
Education until her death on 12 September 2002.
