Scope and Content

The David Mallard Papers (1886-1972) consist of personal papers, photographs, correspondence, and publications. The collection includes some of Mallard's business records (a ledger, for instance, from 1925-1926 and various licenses). Also within are many items pertaining Virginia Mallard, David's wife, and the A.M.E. Church.

I. Publications

1886-1964 Box 1

Series I, publications, consists of secondary books saved by David Mallard. Some, not all, of the books contain annotations – presumably Mallard’s. Topics include the A.M.E. Church, Spanish, physics, hymns, and numerous others. This series is arranged alphabetically by title.

1935-1969 Box 2

Series II, personal papers, is divided into four subseries: miscellaneous items, correspondence, photographs, and certificates. The first subseries, miscellaneous items, includes material from the A.M.E. Church and motor information. The second subseries, correspondence, consists of correspondence between 1935-1969. The third subseries, photographs, features photographs of David Mallard. The fourth subseries, certificates, includes recognition from the A.M.E. Church (1969-1972), and various licenses held by Mallard (soft drink, milk, tobacconist, etc.) from the 1930s-1940s.
