Biographical Note

Born on 02 June 1918 in Galveston, Texas, Frank Harriette Caldwell, a community activist, schoolteacher, and wife of Elvin R. Caldwell Sr. (former Colorado state legislator and Denver City Councilman), died at the age of 83 on 16 September 2001.

Mrs. Caldwell, also known as ``Frankie,'' was a graduate of Manual High School and earned her teaching degree at the University of Denver. She taught elementary school for several years in Carlsbad, New Mexico, then worked 27 years at Mitchell Elementary School. She retired in 1983.

She was an avid fund-raiser for several Denver-area charities, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, The Denver Chapter of the Links, Shorter Community A.M.E. Church, and a major contributor to the success of the Denver Junior Police Band.
