Scope and Content

The Omar Blair Papers (1929-2003) include minutes, photographs, papers, and reports regarding the Denver Board of Education during his term on the Board from 1973-1985. The collection also includes material (videotapes and papers) on the Tuskegee Airmen and personal papers that include information on the Martin Luther King Day Celebration of 1986 and the Blair family. This collection possesses several publications about blacks in Colorado and other parts of the west.

Series I consists of pages from a scrapbook. It is divided into two subseries: Denver Board of Education and personal papers. The material on the Board of Education includes a letter from Denver Public Schools' Superintendents and various photographs. The personal materials include all of the information from the Martin Luther King Day celebration in Colorado (1986) and some Blair family material, which includes memorials, photographs, and newspaper clippings.

Series II consists of papers pertaining to the Denver Board of Education and personal materials. The materials on the Denver Board of Education include minutes, directories, reports, long-range plans, and information on various resolutions and civil action papers. The personal materials include items on the Tuskegee Airmen, a resume, and newspaper articles on Blair's career.


III. Videotapes

Material Dates: 1986-1992 0.15 cubic feet

Series III consists of videotapes regarding the Tuskegee Airmen and "Being Black in America."


IV. Denver Board of Education Report

Material Dates: 1979 0.10 cubic feet

Series IV consists of a report to the United States District Court Affirmative Action and Employment History: School District #1 Denver, Colorado.
