Scope and Content

The Odell Barry Papers primarily contain scrapbooks of newspaper clippings that highlight issues with which Barry had to contend during his tenure as mayor of Northglenn, Colorado, from 1980-1982. The bulk of these scrapbooks are housed in Box 2. The clippings within the scrapbooks are arranged chronologically. The Northglenn Spokesman, in Box 1, Folder 4, serves as another source to chronicle Barry's progress as mayor. Also, his political platform and some of the speeches he gave appear in Box 1, Folder 2, labelled, "Publications - Political."

For scant coverage of Barry's brief two-year stint as a return specialist/halfback for the AFL Denver Broncos, refer to Box 1, Folders 8 and 9 - "Memorabilia II" and "Photographs," respectively. Additionally, researchers will find congratulatory correspondence (a signed letter from President Carter) in Box 1, Folder 1 and Democratic campaign memorabilia in Box 1, Folders 7 and 8.
